Q: What is the difference between Arbitration and Review? Sorry if that's a silly question butI have only just gained Reviewer status and am about to start!
- A: When you review you are only reviewing 1 keyer. Arbitration is when you review two keyers. Most projects are now review only. I think there may be a few USHMM projects that are arbitration. --Wiedwoman 14:47, 22 April 2014 (UTC)
- Adding to Karen's answer... Arbitration notes the differences between two keyers entries and the arbitrator decides if one, or neither, are correct and review is a more experienced contributor who looks at every entry (and field) to ensure the accuracy of the entries. The review entry area looks the same as when keying but the arbitration is very different. (The articles show pictures of each grid.) Annafechter 18:51, 24 April 2014 (UTC)
Q: How do I become a Reviewer? Are there any prerequisites? Keying is ok, just becoming a little bored with nothing but keying,
- A. Usually you need to have an overall accuracy rating of exceptional which is 92% and better and you receive an invite. If you think you meet this and haven't received an invite you can email Anna at firstname.lastname@example.org for her to check if you're eligible.
Q: I am reviewing the page of a project. The project has 160 lines of entry. The person who completed the keying entered the 81st through 160th lines first, then entered the first through 80th. Is it necessary for me to attempt to move each of the 80 lines entered last into the correct places of being first through 80? If yes, is there a trick for moving multiple lines at once? Or is it allowable to leave them entered in the incorrect order? The keyer is very accurate so I wouldn't want to reject the entire image set. Thanks for anything anyone can tell me.

Q: When reviewing records that blanks keyed in fields that do not need have data entered, is it okay to leave the fields keyed or should the blanks be deleted? (This would be an especially tedious process to delete blanks when reviewing Miltary Records.)

Reviewing Records Entered In All Caps?
I downloaded an image set which shows first and last names keyed in all capital letters. Keying instructions indicate state, "Is it okay to type all in CAPS? Proper capitalization should be used when entering data from the images. The first letter of proper nouns (names of people and places) should be capitalized and the remainder of the name should be entered in lower case letters."
Should I go ahead and review as if properly entered or reject the image set?

I'm reviewing Delaware property deeds and have come across recorder(s) adding a new section on the deed form for each deed in the image. My interpretation of the "YEAR" instructions (see below) are to add a new section only if the deeds on the image have a different year. Several image sets for this project are showing 3 and 4 sections on the deed form, all with the same year in the 'year' field, in effect separating each deed on the image. If we were to record each deed in its own section, the instructions would just say so. Asking for your opinion/expertise on this issue. Thank you!
Key the year of the deed. The year may appear in numerals or written longhand. Enter the year in numerical format, for example 1882. If more than one year appears on an image create a new section to key the information from the additional deed(s) on the image.
