Q: Random handwriting help: So, every time I think I'm getting better at reading old handwriting, I stumble over a sample that has me utterly scratching my head. What IS this guy's first name?
A: I would guess Ashbel /\ Oh good, me too!
Q. How should we handle dates that state "about" with a year or "before" with a complete date or "after" with a complete date, etc?
A: For the 'about', I entered the year because it is going to be a year close to the accurate one. I don't think we should be entering anything for the 'before' and 'after' because that is usually related to a will, related person's birth or death, or something like that, but we will have to wait for the official word.
A. Good thought. I will wait for official word, because I have both keying and review sets that involve this-- anybody else know for sure what to do?

Since it may be hard to read the handwriting, I found it helpful to look at the following:
1. Pilgrim Name is also on the typed list on the left
2. Applicant Name is on the 3rd fold of the doc. By rotating the document, the name in that section may be printed and make it easier to understand what the Applicant Name is.
