Hertford is a county in North Carolina. It was formed in 1759 from the following county/ies: Chowan/Bertie/Northampton. Hertford began keeping birth records in 1911, marriage records in 1868, and death records in 1911. It began keeping land records in 1862, probate records in 1868, and court records in 1830.
