Strachota Family History

Strachota Name Meaning

Czech and Polish: from the old personal name Strachota derived from strach ‘fear’. In some cases it was an erroneous translation of the Greek personal name Methodios (thought to be derived from Latin metus ‘fear’ instead of Greek methodos ‘pursuit method’) borne by St. Methodius (826–869) a missionary who together with his brother Cyril brought Christianity to the Slavs.
