The Na clan's founding ancestor Na Pu migrated from China sometime during the mid seventh century and settled in the Naju area. (ii) traced back to minority ethnic groups in China such as Manchus who adopted Na (那) as their Han Chinese surname. Chinese: Mandarin form of the surname 納: (i) a surname of the Hui ethnic group said to be traced back to Nasr al-Din (died 1292 AD translated into Chinese as Na Su La Ding: 納速剌丁) a provincial governor of Yunnan and of Shaanxi during the Yuan dynasty and also the eldest son of the famous official Sayyid Ajall Shams al-Din Omar al-Bukhari (1211–79).
