Mildren Family History

Mildren Name Meaning

Cornish: unexplained. It is recorded only from the early 17th century onward in Cornwall and may not be Cornish in origin. A Breton origin is theoretically possible (many Bretons migrated to Cornwall in the 1500s) but this supposes a derivation from an unrecorded Middle Breton male personal name Meldiern ‘prince’ + ‘king’ which although attested in Old Breton appears not to have survived into the surnaming period in Brittany.
