Hungarian (Kosár): from kosár ‘basket’ (a loanword from South Slavic košar) hence a metonymic occupational name for a basketmaker. Germanized form of Slovenian and Croatian Kozar Slovak and Czech Kozár. Probably also an Americanized form of Slovenian and Croatian Kožar Slovak Kožár (see Kozar ). Turkish (Koşar): nickname for a runner or for someone who is always in a hurry from a derivative of koşmak ‘to run’.
