This surname is also found in France (Alsace and Lorraine) and in Slovenia (see 3 below). English (Hampshire): unexplained. Slovenian: of German origin (see 1 above). In North America this surname is also an altered form of the Slovenized variant Gaser and possibly also Gasar.
