The people of Ireland have always had a pride and passion for their land and traditions. Our new Irish records help you meet these people — your ancestors — and learn more about the places and eras that shaped them.
The best way to start your search for Irish roots is to create your family tree at Ancestry.co.uk. This is very easy and completely free.
As you make new discoveries, you can build a complete picture of your ancestors' lives by adding historical records, photos and fascinating family stories. Plus, we'll put you in touch with relatives you never knew existed, so you can continue discovering your Irish heritage.

At present, we have more than 26 million family trees created by our members, containing 2.6 billion individual profiles. Any one of them could provide a link to your family. The best way to find out is through Member Connect.
Member Connect automatically looks for members who seem to have the same relatives in their family trees — suggesting they too are related. To check for matches, choose any person in your family tree and click 'View profile', then select 'Member Connect' on the far right. You'll see a list of suggested connections — profiles in other trees that are similar to the person you've selected. If you see one that looks like the same person, click 'Connect'.
Once you've connected to a member, you can view their entire family tree to see what else they may have found. You can then send them an email to discuss your findings and share information about the family – you may decide to meet up or even hold a family reunion!
You can also search public member trees just like any other records around the site. Just enter as much information as you know about any of your ancestors to see what other people have discovered.
