Family History Tip: Browsing Census Districts

I would recommend that if the census district where your ancestor lived isn't too big (like a big city), that a person read all the census pages for that particular district.  I have found as many as four or five families that I was related to in Buffalo County, Nebraska, while looking up one family.  A father and married son may live in the same town but not close to each other.  A family with three or four children who have married may all live in the same township with their various married names.  If you know a wife's maiden name, you may find her parents living nearby.
